The AG's SFT explicitly names 'The Blessed Hope' — the rapture of the church — as one of its fundamental truths. The AG teaches that Christ will return first to 'catch away' (rapture) his church before the Great Tribulation, and then will return at the end of the Tribulation to establish his millennial kingdom on earth. This pre-tribulation rapture position is the dominant view within the AG, though not all AG members hold it.

The second coming of Christ is considered imminent — it could happen at any moment — and this imminent expectation has historically driven the AG's evangelistic and missionary urgency. If Christ could return today, there is no time to waste in proclaiming the gospel to every nation. This eschatological urgency is embedded in AG culture and mission.

The SFT describes the second coming as a 'glorious and imminent event' including the rapture of the living saints, the resurrection of the righteous dead, and Christ's ultimate reign. The physical, bodily return of Jesus is affirmed against any purely spiritual or metaphorical interpretation of his coming.
