Oriental Orthodox churches include 1 John 5:7-8 in their biblical text, following the tradition of the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox. The Comma Johanneum is part of the received text.

However, Oriental Orthodox theology acknowledges textual-critical questions about the longer reading. The doctrine of the Trinity does not depend on this single verse but is affirmed throughout patristic tradition and liturgical life.
