Oneness Pentecostal churches do not include the Shepherd of Hermas in the biblical canon. While the church may value early Christian literature, the Shepherd is post-apostolic and therefore excluded from Scripture. The Oneness principle holds that canonical revelation closed with the apostolic era.

The Shepherd of Hermas may be studied as historical Christian text but is not treated as authoritative revelation or Scripture.
