Genesis 1:1-2 affirms God's creative power and goodness of creation

Moravians affirm Genesis 1:1-2 as the foundation of Christian faith: God alone is Creator, and all creation reflects God's wisdom and goodness. The passage establishes that creation is not independent of God but wholly dependent on God's creative power and sustaining grace.

Zinzendorf taught that creation is an expression of God's love and that God finds joy in creating. Moravians view the created world as a place of God's presence and activity. This creation theology informs Moravian environmental ethics and appreciation for God's creation. The goodness of creation (implied in Genesis 1:31) means that the material world is not inherently evil but is the arena of God's redemptive work.
