The International Church of Christ does not accept the Shepherd of Hermas as part of the biblical canon. While it is a valuable early Christian text offering insights into 2nd-century church practice, it lacks the apostolic authority and canonical status of the 66-book Scripture. The work is excluded from the ICC's canon and carries no binding authority for doctrine or practice.

The ICC's hermeneutical principle is that Scripture alone is the final authority. Other Christian writings, ancient or modern, must be evaluated in light of Scripture. The Shepherd of Hermas may be studied for historical interest but does not possess the divine authority characteristic of apostolic Scripture.
