Iglesia ni Cristo teaches that Félix Manalo received divine revelation and guidance in his mission to restore the true Church. His teachings and the teachings of successive Executive Ministers are understood as divinely inspired and authoritative guidance for the Church. While the biblical canon is closed, God continues to guide the Church through the leadership of the Executive Minister. This represents a form of ongoing revelation mediated through Church leadership.

The Executive Minister's pronouncements on doctrine and practice are understood as expressions of God's will for the Church. This doctrine establishes a mechanism for continuous authoritative guidance beyond the written Scriptures, which ensures that INC can adapt and develop its teachings while maintaining the appearance of fidelity to Scripture. Members are expected to accept the Executive Minister's guidance as the voice of God to the Church.
