The Evangelical Covenant Church allows diversity of interpretation regarding Revelation 20:1-6 and the nature of the millennium. The ECC does not mandate a specific millennial view (amillennial, premillennial, or postmillennial), and both amillenial and premillennial positions are represented among ECC pastors and theologians.

Some ECC churches and leaders interpret the thousand years as a symbol of the church age, consistent with amillennial theology. Others affirm a future, literal thousand-year reign of Christ on earth, consistent with premillennial theology. Both positions are understood as compatible with ECC evangelical commitment.

What is non-negotiable for the ECC is the belief in Christ's return, the final resurrection, the eternal state of believers with God, and the reality of final judgment. The specific timing and nature of millennial events, however, is treated as a secondary matter on which Christians of good faith may disagree. The ECC's openness reflects its moderate, irenic approach to secondary theological questions.
