The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church does not teach a literal future thousand-year kingdom of Christ on earth preceding the Last Judgment. Like other Oriental Orthodox churches, it follows an amillennial reading of Revelation 20 in which the 'thousand years' is symbolic of the age of the Church. Premillennialism and dispensationalism are absent from Ethiopian Orthodox eschatological theology.

The Ethiopian canonical inclusion of 1 Enoch and the Book of Jubilees—apocalyptic texts with vivid eschatological imagery—enriches Ethiopian theological imagination about the end times without translating into a literal millennial scheme. The Ethiopian tradition focuses its eschatological hope on the resurrection of the dead, the Last Judgment (carried out before the throne of God), and the eternal Kingdom that follows, rather than on a this-worldly interim reign.
