No official millennial position; speculative eschatology discouraged

Disciples do not hold an official millennial position and generally regard detailed millennial speculation as secondary at best. The Restoration Movement's founding figures were skeptical of premillennialism, and the progressive trajectory of mainline Disciples has moved further from eschatological speculation. Amillennialism is the default working assumption in most Disciples theological education.

The denomination's investment in the ecumenical movement and social justice — building the Kingdom in the present — reflects a realized or inaugurated eschatology more than an expectation of a literal millennial reign. Disciples are not interested in dispensationalist timelines.
