Hell is self-punishing state of sin; no literal place of eternal torment
Christian Science denies the existence of hell as a literal place of eternal punishment. If hell were real and eternal, it would contradict the omnipotence and infinite Love of God. What is called hell is the suffering state of consciousness that results from belief in sin and separation from God—a self-imposed condition of the mortal mind.
As understanding of divine Truth grows, the illusion of hell dissolves. Since suffering is ultimately illusory and God's Love is infinite and inescapable, eternal damnation is impossible. The concept of an eternal hell is rejected as incompatible with a God of infinite compassion.
