Creation spiritual; matter is illusion; God creates through Mind; literal days denied

Christian Science reinterprets Genesis 1 fundamentally. Creation is understood as God (Mind) bringing forth spiritual ideas eternally, not material creation in time. The 'days' are not literal temporal periods but represent stages in the unfoldment of divine consciousness. Matter itself is not real but an illusion of mortal mind; true creation is spiritual. Humanity is a spiritual idea in the Mind of God, not a material body. Christian Science teaches that the apparent material creation is a false testimony of mortal sense; true understanding reveals creation as entirely spiritual and perfect.
