Science and Health is divinely inspired; Eddy received divine revelation

Christian Science affirms that divine revelation did not cease with the apostolic age. Mary Baker Eddy received divine inspiration and wrote Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as a divinely given work. This book is understood as a revelation of Christian Truth adapted to the nineteenth century and beyond, comparable in authority to biblical revelation.

Eddy taught that God continues to guide His followers into truth; her own spiritual insights and healings were understood as divinely appointed to restore and complete Christian understanding in the modern age. Science and Health represents the continuation of God's revelation through a human instrument, making it binding scripture for Christian Scientists.
