Eternal Son of God; fully divine and human; Chalcedonian Christology

Christian Churches affirm the Chalcedonian Christology: Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human, united in one person without confusion or mixture of natures. Christ's divinity is not diminished by his humanity, nor his humanity assumed into the divine nature. He is truly God and truly Man.

As the eternal Son, Christ shared equally in the divine nature, attributes, and worship with the Father before the incarnation. At the incarnation, the divine Word assumed human flesh and nature while remaining fully God. This protects both Christ's deity and the reality of his human development, temptation, suffering, and death.

Christian Churches reject Arianism (denying Christ's full deity), Docetism (denying his real humanity), and Monophysitism (confusing his natures). They accept the Chalcedonian Definition as an accurate summary of biblical Christology, though like other restorationist bodies, they ground this in Scripture rather than in the ecumenical council's formal authority.
