Christian Churches firmly deny that God provides revelation beyond Scripture in this age. The canon of Scripture is closed, and no additional books should be recognized as authoritative for doctrine or practice. This foundational restorationist principle maintains that all necessary guidance for faith and conduct is available in Scripture.

While God may guide individual believers through prayer, conscience, and providential circumstances, such guidance is personal and not authoritative for the broader church. It cannot contradict Scripture or add to biblical doctrine. Visions, prophetic utterances, and continuing revelation are not recognized as authoritative sources for church doctrine and practice.

The apostolic age was the period of foundational revelation through the apostles and prophets. Since the completion of the New Testament in the first century, God's authoritative Word to the church comes through Scripture alone. The church's task is to faithfully interpret and apply Scripture, not to await new revelations. This distinguishes Christian Churches from groups claiming latter-day revelation (Latter-day Saints, Christian Science, etc.) and preserves sola scriptura as foundational to restorationism.
