The Assyrian Church of the East teaches that God sincerely wills the salvation of all humanity and extends prevenient grace to all, calling all to repentance and faith. God's foreknowledge encompasses all things, but this does not entail predetermination of human choices. Human beings possess genuine free will and are morally responsible for their choices; salvation requires human cooperation with God's offered grace through faith, repentance, and perseverance in righteousness.

The tradition explicitly rejects any doctrine of double predestination—the notion that God predestines some to salvation and others to damnation. Such a doctrine would contradict God's justice and mercy. Instead, the tradition holds that God extends his grace to all, wills the salvation of all, and respects the freedom of the human will to accept or reject this offered grace. The liturgical and moral emphasis on the believer's responsibility for ongoing righteousness and cooperation with grace reflects this understanding.
