Logos is divine; affirms Christology of the Councils of Nicaea

The Assyrian Church of the East affirms John 1:1 as expressing the divinity of the Logos in continuity with ecumenical Christology. Christ is confessed as the eternal Word of God, fully divine. However, the Assyrian Church's distinctive dyophysite (two-natures) Christology emphasizes the distinction between Christ's divine nature and human nature more sharply than Western traditions.

The Assyrian Church received the Nicene-Constantinopolitan faith through the historic councils and maintains this orthodox affirmation of Christ's divine nature and coequality with the Father.
